Traditional Signwriting ( Pictorial Sign )
The pictorial sign is probably the most important sign, especially within the licensed trade. The pub or inn hanging sign is a statement about the identity of the pub, and often the first one that potential customers see; it is also a symbol of the history and heritage of the pub

Vivid Signs have years of experience and skill in pictorial sign painting. Using either sign painting or computer techniques, we can reproduce any picture as a pictorial in stunning full colour. All of our pictorial painting and illustrating can be undertaken in your specified style

Puplic Houses 
Most public houses have some sort of fascia signs or individual letters to show the name of the house. The fascia signs are usually made of timber or GRP (fibre glass). The signs can be signwritten or have three-dimensional lettering, or a combination of both. This can be painted or in gold leaf. Individual letters fixed directly to a wall are sometimes more appropriate, these also can be painted or in gold leaf and are available in various shapes and styles

Vivid Signs have been gold leaf gilding since 1990. Using the finest 23 3/4 carat English gold leaf hundreds of letters and logos – signwritten onto hardwood - have been brilliantly gilded.

This traditional process is really a plating process, covering the item with a thin, but durable, coat of metal. The appearance of burnished or polished gold leaf cannot be reproduced by any other method, and so, despite the extra expense, gilding is still widely used in sign making

Due to the rapid turnover and convenience of computer-generated signs, the more traditional aspects of signwriting have undergone a shift in fortune over recent years, to the point where such aspects are all but excluded from the majority of sign services. Fortunately, we have a strong customer base who still require traditional, hand-painted signs, whether they be detailed pub sign pictorials or Indian restaurants. Customers are often attracted to hand-painted graphics as it lends the work a more personalised and crafted finish
